Cargo Surveyor Course

Course aim

The overall aim of the Cargo Surveyor Course is to provide participants with solid marine knowledge required to understand the role of the marine cargo surveyor and the details of the surveys, inspections, claims and investigations for cargo transported on board ships so they can perform as effective marine cargo surveyors.

The course didactic materials are written in English and the course will be held in English unless otherwise agreed.

Course objectives

On completion of the course, the trainees are expected to be able to:

  • Understand the meaning, the role and the liabilities of marine cargo surveyors;
  • Outline the types of cargo surveys performed by the marine cargo surveyor;
  • Understanding the considerations in writing the reports;
  • Demonstrate the understanding of the properties of cargo transported on board vessels;
  • Recognize the types and role of evidence collected for a specific cargo/damage/claim;
  • Understand the causes of cargo damage and claims involved;
  • Understand the procedures and importance for sampling of bulk cargoes;
  • Understand the importance of ship cargo worthy and the claims involved.

Entry requirements for enrollment

You have to fulfill one of the following conditions

  • General knowledge of seamanship;
  • Upper Secondary School graduate with Baccalaureate Diploma (Bachelor’s Degree).

Certificate

On successful completion of Cargo Surveyor Course, the  trainee will receive the Certificate for completion of Cargo Surveyor Course.

The course is recognized by The Nautical Institute for the purpose of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
