Course aim
The overall aim of the Depollution, Port and Maritime Depollution is to familiarize with modern port and maritime depollution systems and the use of pollution accident simulation software in order to optimize resources and reduce response times.
The course didactic materials are written in English and the course will be held in English unless otherwise agreed.
Course objectives
On completion of the course, the trainees are expected to be able to:
- Be familiar with the sources of marine pollution;
- Know the characteristics of the main pollutants;
- Know how we can prevent pollution from ships (MARPOL 73/78);
- Analyze the impact of hydrocarbons on marine ecosystems;
- Manage emergencies caused by possible accidental pollution with oil products of the Black Sea;
- Conduct an analysis of the current state of the issue of accidental discharges of petroleum products, based on extensive documentation and a rigorous selection of specialized literature;
- Elaborate an updated statistic of the cases of accidental discharges of petroleum products;
- Highlight the specific features, characteristics of water bodies and specific currents of the Black Sea;
- Analysis of the Regional Intervention Plan in case of pollution with petroleum products of the Black Sea;
- Evaluate by simulation, the impact produced on the environment by accidental discharges.
Entry requirements for enrollment
You have to fulfill one of the following conditions
- Deck and engine officer endorsement and minimal requirements for Windows operating systems on PC.

Certificate
On successful completion of Depollution, Port and Maritime Depollution, the trainees will receive the Certificate for course completion.
