DP Revalidation Course

Course aim

The DP Revalidation Course is intended for those who have already been issued a DPO Certificate from The NI and required to refresh their knowledge and revalidate their License . The overall course aim is to update the DPOs with the latest rules and regulations, position references and sensors, known DP incidents and lessons learned.

The course didactic materials are written in English and the course will be held in English unless otherwise agreed.

Course objectives

On completion of the course, the trainees are expected to be able to:

  • Have acquired knowledge of the latest rules and regulations.
  • Have acquired knowledge of the latest developments within sensors and PRS.
  • Have acquired knowledge of the latest relevant DP incidents and why they occurred.
  • Be able to recognise the various alarm, warning and information messages.
  • Be able to carry out operational planning, risk assessment and hazard identification tasks.
  • Be able to set up the DP system for a particular task/operation.
  • Be able to decide on courses of action because of systems failure.

Entry requirements for enrollment

The DP Revalidation Course may be undertaken in the following circumstances

  • The DPO has accumulated less than 150 DP sea time days within the validity period of the
    DPO certificate.
    Or
  • The DPO has accumulated a minimum 150 days of DP sea time within the validity period of
    the DP certificate but elects to complete the DP Revalidation Course in lieu of completing
    the continuing professional development (CPD) programme and the DP Revalidation
    online exam
  • Applications for certificate revalidation shall be submitted no later than three years after the expiry
    date of the DPO certificate.

Certificate

On successful completion of DP Revalidation course, the DP trainee will receive the Certificate for completion of DP Revalidation Course. The course will be logged into the IMCA DP Logbook.

The IMCA DP Logbooks are published by The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA). The IMCA logbooks can be ordered by participants individually, from the IMCA website. Participants can also procure an IMCA logbook from CMU training centre, depending on availability (75 Euro).
