Marine/Cargo Surveying Course

The overall aim of the Marine Surveying Course is to provide participants with solid marine technical knowledge required to understand the role of the marine surveyor and the details of the surveys, inspections, claims and investigations for ships and cargoes so they can perform as effective marine surveyors.

REGISTRATION

The administrative registration of trainees is completed by CMU Training Centre in accordance with the following steps.

Step 1. Entry requirements

  • General knowledge of seamanship and high school diploma.

Step 2. Application process (Application Form)

  • By e-mail sent to dp.registration@cmu-edu.eu. Applicants shall send the application form by e-mail and they will be confirmed and coordinated for the next step by the Training Centre Secretary;
  • Desk office: From Monday to Friday 08.00 – 11.00, applicants have the possibility to pass the application form in the printed copy at Constanta Maritime University, 104, Mircea cel Batran St., 900663, Secretary Office E107. The confirmation for registration will be sent by e-mail to the applicant.
  • The Training Centre Secretary communicates to students enrollment pack outlining course timetable, accommodation, transport, location and the contact details of the Training Centre.

Once the application was received and confirmed by CMU Training Centre the applicant may proceed to the next step.

Step 3. Payment

Marine Surveying course fee – 500 Euro

Once the payment was completed the Training Centre Secretary sends by email the course timetable to the trainees.

TRAINING PERIODS

Marine Surveying Course is scheduled in advance to provide to our prospective trainees, the possibility to book the course and accommodation in a timely manner.

ATTENDING 5 DAYS Marine Surveying Course

On successful completion of the Marine Surveying Course, the trainees will be able to:

  • Understand the meaning, the role and the liabilities of marine surveyor.
  • Outline the types of surveys performed by the marine surveyor.
  • Understand the considerations in writing the reports.
  • Demonstrate the understanding of the purposes of marine incident investigations.
  • Recognize the types and role of evidence collected for a specific incident.
  • Demonstrate technical skills required for structural, hull and marine engineering surveys.
  • Understand the cargo surveys, the causes of cargo damage and marine cargo claims.
  • Explain the tasks of the marine surveyor in relation to specific types of marine surveys.
  • Understand the international maritime laws and conventions.

CERTIFICATE

The trainees will receive the Certificate of Marine Surveying course completion recognized by The Nautical Institute for the purpose of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

CANCELLATION POLICY

The candidates may cancel the course and receive full refund (except for the bank charges) if cancellation occurs more than one week before the course starts. Otherwise, within the last week before the course begins, the trainees may reschedule their attendance to a later available training session. Cancellation within the week before the course begins is not possible; in such case, the course fee is not refundable to trainees.

Marine Cargo Surveyor Course

The overall aim of the marine Cargo Surveyor Course is to provide participants with solid marine knowledge required to understand the role of the marine cargo surveyor and the details of the surveys, inspections, claims and investigations for cargoes and damage to cargoes so they can perform as effective marine cargo surveyors.

The training will follow a programme that will provide to participants a sufficient level of knowledge and understanding to develop their skills and competence in the marine cargo surveying field.

On completion of the Marine Cargo Surveyor Course, the trainees are expected to be able to:

  • Understand the meaning, the role and the liabilities of marine cargo surveyor.
  • Outline the types of cargo surveys performed by the marine cargo surveyor.
  • Understand the considerations in writing the reports.
  • Demonstrate the understanding of the properties of cargoes transported on board vessels.
  • Recognize the types and role of evidence collected for a specific cargo/damage/claim.
  • Understand the causes of cargo damage and claims involved.
  • Understand the procedures and importance for sampling of bulk cargoes.
  • Understand the importance of ship cargoworthy and the claims involved.

CERTIFICATE

The trainees will receive the Certificate of Cargo Surveyor course completion recognized by The Nautical Institute for the purpose of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
