Course aim
The overall educational aim of the High Voltage Safety and Maintenance course is to provide participants with solid theoretical and practical knowledge required to understand the safe operation and maintenance procedures carried out periodically within high voltage naval and terrestrial installations.
The course didactic materials are written in English and the course will be held in English unless otherwise agreed.
Course objectives
On completion of the course, the trainees are expected to be able to:
- Operate high-voltage equipment (switches, separators, transformers, electric panels) onboard modern ships;
- Demonstrate capability to use the high-voltage electrical equipment, the switchgear of any electrical power system of the naval power station;
- Understand the way in which diagrams are created, the role and location of components;
- Carry out manoeuvres and conceive manoeuvre charts;
- Demonstrate technical capabilities to detect types of defects in high voltage systems and to carry out maintenance procedures.
Entry requirements for enrollment
You have to fulfill one of the following conditions
- General knowledge of electro-technics, electro-mechanics, electricity
- High school diploma in technical field.

Certificate
The trainees’ knowledges are assessed by written and practical examination at the end of the course. On successful completion of HV Course, the trainees will receive the Certificate of course completion.
The course is recognized by The Nautical Institute for the purpose of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
