Rezumatul etapei
Strategia energetică a României pentru perioada 2007-2020 (actualizată pentru perioada 2011 -2020) stabileşte drept obiectiv-cheie pentru 2020 creşterea ponderii energiei regenerabile în consumul final brut de energie la 24% . În România există 5 surse regenerabile de energie (SRE): eoliană, solară , hidro, geotermică şi cea provenind de la biomasă. Energia solară este o sursă impottantă de energie regenerabilă , dar insuficient exploatată, deţinând 12.4% din totalul energiei regenerabile utilizate în România . În România , principala regiune cu potenţial energetic eolian este aceea a vârfurilor montane (> 8 m/s), urmată de Litoralul Mării Negre, Delta Dunării şi nordul Dobrogei (aprox. 6 m/s) şi Podişul Bârladului (4-5 m/s) . Biomasa este considerată ca fiind cea mai impoitantă resursă regenerabilă pentru producerea de electricitate şi căldură în statele Uniunii Europene.
