The transport industry has a significant economic and social impact in terms of employment and activity in the port industry, downstream in the supply chain and in the economy as a whole. Some of the best performing sectors are logistics and multimodal transport, which are fundamental to the effective functioning of the internal and international market by creating new opportunities for business, ensuring competitiveness and employment.
The Business Administration in Transport Master’s degree programme is aimed at those who wish to study subjects that offer them the opportunity to develop and improve their professional skills and competences. Thus, they will learn and deepen, in the form of models, knowledge on the structure and operation of business processes in order to achieve the desired performance and appropriate risk management within organisations.
It will train specialists with higher technical training in economics, capable of working in engineering fields where the use of digitisation and business models, transport performance measurement tools and advanced techniques are appropriate. They will be able to overcome complex challenges in the transport sector or in transport institutions where planning and managing infrastructure issues or establishing risk minimisation strategies are essential.
The 2-year programme is designed to provide graduates with the skills needed to meet the realities of the business environment and to be recruited in the Romanian and international transport market.
WHAT YOU WILL STUDY
The interdisciplinary curriculum is aligned with international standards and is carried out over 4 semesters: 3 semesters for academic activities and 1 semester dedicated to the writing of the thesis. The Business Administration in Transport (BAT) Master’s programme aims to extend the training process of specialists in the field of Engineering and Management initiated through bachelor’s degree studies, from the perspective of conferring the managerial and technical-economic skills needed to approach the planning, organisation, operation and evaluation of transport systems in relation to the reality of the business environment existing on the domestic and international market.
The logistics sector and the multimodal transport sector have emerged as the most successful sectors, being particularly important for an effective internal and international market, ensuring competitiveness, creating new business opportunities and employment.
These sectors have a fundamental role to play in the economic and social development and are a potential source of excellent employment and career opportunities for a significant number of people involved in activities and companies worldwide.

Am terminat UMC în 2006 și după cadeție am facut încă un contract pe containere pe funcția de Ofițer 3. Apoi am avut oportunitatea de a trece la Pasagere. Am început cu Norvegian Cruise Line NCL. unde am înteles mai bine ce înseamnă un altfel de mediu de muncă și relații interdepartamentale. După un contract de Ofițer 2 la NCL, în 2008 am reusit să intru în echipa Royal Caribbean unde sunt și după mai bine de 10 ani.
Nu a fost ușor pentru că românii nu erau așa de frecvenți pe vasele de croazieră. Am fost primul ofițer român pe NCL și tot la fel printre primii la Royal Caribbean. Am învățat lecții frumoase, unele mai grele, altele mai ușoare … și cel mai mult am înteles că răbdarea și bună cooperare cu colegii și superiorii reprezintă cheia succesului! Am urcat încet dar sigur în grad și acum în sfârșit am primit promovarea de Chief Officer Safety, ce implică lucru cu toate departamentele, training pentru tot echipajul de 860 persoane și responsabilitatea cu siguranța la bord.
În perioada 2014-2015 am fost 1st Officer pe Allure of the Seas, care era atunci cea mai mare navă de pasageri din lume. În 2018 am participat la training-ul a 2300 de oameni din echipajul navei Symphony of the Seas care este, la momentul actual… cea mai navă de pasageri din lume!

După ce am absolvit cursurile Facultății de Navigație, mi-am început perioada de cadeție la Maersk Tankers. Am continuat să navig la Maersk Tankers, ca ofițer III și II, pe tancuri chimice și petroliere până în anul 2018 când m-am decis să urmez o carieră la uscat.
Am lucrat ca Vessel Operator, pe partea comercială, pentru tancuri chimice la Ace Tankers in Amsterdam iar recent am început pe un nou drum, Assistant Marine Superintendent la K Line LNG UK în Londra.
Personal, mi-am dorit întotdeauna să călătoresc și să vad lumea, iar cariera de ofiter a fost decizia ce mai bună în privința asta. Deși am avut multe piedici, fiind o femeie într-o lume dominată de barbați, am reușit să răzbat și mi-am împlinit visul. Chiar dacă partea financiară reprezintă un mare plus, este la fel de important să nu fie unica atracție. Pentru a reuși în acest domeniu este nevoie de pasiune și recomand actualilor și viitorilor studenți să încerce să vadă și părțile pozitive ale navigatului și să se bucure de fiecare răsărit și apus pe mare.

Am absolvit UMC-ul in 2012 si din 2014 lucrez pe nave de croazieră. Am început ca Ofițer 3 in 2014, Ofițer 2 in 2015, Ofițer 1 din 2016 și, din Ianuarie 2019, Chief Officer Deck.
Începutul nu este ușor deloc, tăria se formează din mers și experientele prin care trecem, dar, inainte de toate, cea mai importantă este fundația, baza cu care pornim la drum. Dacă e șubredă, nu poti clădi ceva rezistent pe ea, însă dacă fundația e solidă, poti intrece orice limită. Mulțumirile mele profunde merg către toți profesorii care pe timpul facultătii au pus bazele formării mele.
Dacă aș putea schimba ceva din timpul facultății? Mai multe cărți citite și aș “deranja” mai mult profesorii cu întrebări (sunt sigură că nu s-ar supăra). Pe timpul facultății era ușor: cursul ne era prezentat și știam că urma examenul, insă la muncă se schimbă situația: suntem testați, apoi urmează și lecția!
Victor Vlaciu
În 2009, fiind student anul III al Facultății UMC – Facultatea de Navigație și Transport Naval, mi-am facut cadetia o pe navă tip tanc petrolier. Dupa absolvire, din 2011, am navigat ca Ofiter 3 până în anul 2015 cand am avut posibilitatea de a promova Chief Officer pe Tancuri petroliere. Din anul 2017 sunt Comandant pe o nava tip Offshore – F. C. B., navă de trasfer persoane și remorcaj portuar pentru o firmă elvețiană, Offshore Angola.
Mulțumesc Bunului Dumnezeu că mi-a îndrumat pașii către UMC, unde am cunoscut colegi minunați, profesori 100% dedicați și implicați în creșterea mea universitară și profesională! Recomand Facultatea de Navigație și Transport Naval din UMC – Secția Navigație nu doar pentru stereotipul “meserie bănoasă “, ci pentru o carieră pentru o viață și o multitudine de oportunități.
Și DA – am reușit in viața profesională, socială și de familie și datorită Universității Maritime Constanța! Dacă vrei și crezi, poți! Succes UMC-isti !
