The main objective of this project is “to improve the employability skills and work opportunities for marine workers and to reduce the existing gap between the educational world and labour market by diversification of career paths and skills recognition”. This will be supported by the innovative solutions for the recognition and validation of competences acquired in maritime field, through informal and non-formal learning.
The main objective will be achieved through following specific objectives:
- To build a network to continuously identify the gaps between marine the labour market requirements and the educational field, to establish an unified system for transparency of skills and qualification by cooperation between representatives from both labour market and education.
To establish the unified system for transparency of skills and qualification the partners will develop be an online instrument for continuous survey for: (1) marine workers will be able to express their needs and benefit from the results, (2) marine training organisations will know new skills required by marine market thus facilitating continuous improvement of curricula, and (3) labour market will benefit from employees having skill sets timely adapted to their requirements.
- To promote the continuous professional development of educational staff and marine workers in ICT methodologies for enhancing diversification of career paths, by developing innovative practices for improving soft skills.
- To create teaching curricula focused on areas with skill shortages, targeting new marine professional qualifications, and to define competence standards oriented towards learning outcomes, supported by development of learning resources widely available as online open education resource. This objective addresses the VET contribution to the objectives of the Europe 2020 strategy regarding the European education and training area.
- Facilitate the recognition and validation of work-related skills and learning outcomes by referencing them to EQF and using EU instruments.
