Training session for staff organized by STC-Group, in The Netherlands, November 2017

Short-term joint staff training activity organized by STC-Group, in The Netherlands

Between 20th – 24th of November 2017 ten researchers from Constanta Maritime University (Romania), Nikola Yonkov Vaptsarov Naval Academy (Bulgaria), European Association of Career Guidance (Cyprus) and Stichting STC-Group (The Netherlands), participated in the second study program hosted by Stichting STC-Group in The Netherlands. The training session is part of the project “Diversification of seafarers’ employability paths through collaborative development of competences and certification”, Strategic partnership 2016-1-RO01-KA202-024663, coordinated by Constanta Maritime University, Romania.

The training aimed to launch the E-platform for Blended Learning http://divsea.cmu-edu.eu/ and to improve the trainers’/instructors’ competences in the area of online assessment of trainees’ skills.

For five days, the participants have been involved in activities designed to exchange good practices to improve staff’s competences in using ICT tools for assessment and evaluation. The topics included: methods and techniques to integrate ICT tools within the blended learning process, the use of Prezi in teaching, the use of the game-based learning platform Kahoot, as well as the use of Moodle during teaching and evaluation processes.

The achievements of this training event is planned to be shared by participants with their colleagues. The workshops will be organized by each partner institution with the purpose of multiplying the project outcomes and for enhancing the continuous professional development of marine professionals.

Special sessions have been dedicated to debates and practical activities on methodologies of elaboration of multiple choice questions for skills assessment and evaluation. This subject provided participants with the opportunity to improve their analytical abilities to evaluate results and interpret learners’ decisions.
